The perennial herbs of the triangular leaf of Coptis chinensis.
The morphology was similar to Coptis chinensis, and the main features were no branches or few branches of rhizome.
Leaf Blade papery, ovate, up to 16 cm, width up to 15 cm, 3 full-lobed, lobes with conspicuous shank, central lobe triangular-ovate, base sharply constricted to 2.5 cm long, pinnate-4~6 pairs, lateral lobes obliquely ovate-triangular, unequal 2-parted or cleft, small lobes contiguous with each other.
bracts linear-lanceolate, nearly middle 3-lobed or Chlamys pinnate-parted. Calyx narrowly ovate, petals nearly oblanceolate, broadly wide, stamens ca. 20, length only about 1/2 of petals; carpels 9~12.
The seeds are sterile.
