Function:
The filter pump draws fuel, for example from a system tank, and it presses it through the filter elements to remove particle. After that fuel moved to coaleser filter . From the centre of the elements the fuel flows down into the filter base where water droplets, if any, adhere to the coalescer element, forming larger drops that will settle in the bottom of the coalescing chamber. From the top of the filter base the water free fuel will flow back to the tank.

Separated water can be drained manually from the bottom of the coalescing chamber.
