A follower of Albrecht D ü rer painted this exquisite work after carving The Betrayal of Christ in The Large Passion of 1511 in 1511. The famous paintings of Christie's auction was completed on a thick copper panel, which can probably be traced back to the so-called "Dule Renaissance" period. This renaissance spread throughout southern Germany and Habsburg in the last quarter of the 16th century. At that time, the collectors did not want Dule, so they entrusted many painters who were proficient in this industry with copies. In fact, Dule's works are highly respected, which not only constitute the aesthetic core of art collection in the Northern Renaissance, but also have lasting appeal in all ages. The current works are owned by Pablo Bosch y Barrau, who owns one of the most famous collections in Spain in the early 20th century, and bequeathed them to the Museo del Prado in 1915.
