There are two modes for Chinese domestic vehicle manufacturers to develop new energy vehicles. One is to seek the path only through their own resources. Major automobile companies have long been engaged in the research and development of new energy vehicles, and the large-scale launch of concept vehicles and trial operations occurred after the release of the 2009 Plan. Various automobile manufacturers have invested in the competition for new energy vehicles, and the governments of major automobile industry provinces such as Jilin, Anhui, Guangdong, and Hunan have also rushed to seize opportunities and introduced policies to encourage local large automobile companies to establish new energy vehicle bases, attempting to obtain strong support from policies. At present, nearly a hundred automobile companies across the country have invested in the research and development of new energy vehicles. Not only automobile manufacturers, but also energy suppliers, supporting facility construction enterprises, and technology research and development enterprises have invested in the wave of new energy vehicle supporting construction. The New Energy Vehicle Central Enterprise Alliance, led by the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and formed by central enterprises, was established on August 18, 2010. The successive intervention of major groups signifies a more unified technological approach and a further increase in enterprise concentration.
